What’s needed for a typical data migration project
Starting a migration project in Zengines is easy. Below are the minimum elements for a typical migration project:
-
A Source schema: the structure and metadata describing the data in the SOURCE entity (also known as origination or legacy or current state). Data definitions and documentation are helpful, but not required.
-
A Target schema: the structure and metadata describing the data in the TARGET entity (also known as destination or new or future state). Data definitions and documentation are helpful, but not required.
-
Data: example data from the source entity; this is the data that will be mapped, transformed, and tested. Actual source data to convert and move into the target entity.
To ensure that project teammates are able to access and contribute to the project, it is also helpful to establish upfront the following around project members:
-
Who can access the project?
-
What can each project member see or do? (User profile and privileges)
